Paul Robinson
Paul inherited a healthy interest in aviation from his father but came late to model flying but quickly became hooked on the thrill of getting (and keeping!) a model in the
air.
It was in 2017 that Paul experienced F3K first hand and purchased a model with
which he competed in his first events in 2018. From 2021 onwards Paul has assisted with the running of the UK F3K league and continued to compete.
In 2024 Paul attended the F3K European Championships with the British team in the role of Team Manager.
Paul is committed to flying F3K and intends to use his professional experience and expertise in software to contribute to all flying activities wherever possible.
Paul lives in North Somerset with his wife and two teenage sons.

Flying model planes became a passion for me in 1973. My Father wanted me to be a pilot and purchased our first model flying magazine when I was 11 years old. Soon after that radio gear and planes followed.
Model flying caught my imagination and it was a natural progression to fly in competitions. Competition flying opened my mind to travel. Having focused on gliding as my main discipline I have had the privilege to travel many beautiful slopes and airfields to fly in many countries. Taking me to places I would have never visit.
Model flying has given me many skills and knowledge of materials, physics, electronics to name just a few. My experience in competition flying and the joy I have had from flying has allows motivated me to help others and support clubs and the BMFA run events whether they are fun flying or competitions. It has been a pleasure to have been on the SFTC since 2014 and I believe the continuity and varied interests represented on the SFTC have steered Silent Flight in a positive direction. I am therefore delighted to be nominated by my fellow club members of the Ivinghoe Soaring Association to stand for a further term on the SFTC.
If I can help others enjoy model flying as much as I have it will be a pleasure to continue to help my fellow flyers out.

My own main aeromodelling interest is r/c thermal soaring, with some power at my local club and occasional visits to the slope. I'm a frequent (though notably ineffective) F5J competitor.
I have extensive admin experience with local clubs, Kent Interclub, BARCS Executive Committee and the Silent Flight Technical Committee (current secretary and rules officer). I see the admin as about doing stuff rather than attending meetings: I'm a frequent competition organiser and GliderScore guru; active in running web sites for Interglide, SFTC, BARCS and my local club. I have a particular interest in the rules and their improvement, in which I've some professional expertise as a retired Senior Lecturer in Law. And my cat-herding experience as a retired academic is, I think, useful in persuading colleagues to cooperate effectively and in avoiding friction.
My priorities for the SFTC are:
First, to main and increase the numbers involved in silent flight, and in silent flight competitions in particular. (Within this, we need additional people engaged in national organisation and in running - as well as in flying - competitions. And it is particularly important to nurture, and to co-operate with, emergent classes).
Second, the support of (and hopefully the improvement of funding for) our international teams.

An enthusiastic modeller from an early age, I have constructed and flown many types of model aircraft, and in particular, all aspects of Slope Soaring. After catching the racing bug in the 90's I have been involved with F3F Slope Racing ever since.
Competing at National level, I have helped to promote F3F and seen it develop into the success that it is today. I am involved in the organisation and running of National and International slope racing events, and offer help and support for the coordination of F3F in the UK.
I am currently Chairman of the Silent Flight Technical Committee ( SFTC ), Membership Secretary and Treasurer for the North York Moors Ridge Soaring Club, and a founder member of the Great Britain Slope Racing Association
I believe I have brought an objective and constructive approach to the Silent Flight Technical Committee through skills developed over many years of working for large multi-national companies. The SFTC currently has a great team, and I would like to continue on the committee in order to carry on the work of serving the flyers it represents. Now retired, I enjoy being involved with a great sport, and contributing to its continued development.
